Kisses

So, in the past week, we've noticed something funny that Teagan does. When she's not initially comfortable in a situation, she tends to lean over and kiss Roger repeatedly, presumably for some measure of comfort or security.
Saturday morning, Grandma and Grandpa Farmer came into town. Teagan was sleeping when they got here, so we chatted for a little bit before I went and woke her up. She came into the room a bit bleary eyed and seemed happy to see Grandma and Grandpa, but a little timid. She walked over to Rog and gave him a half dozen kisses back to back before she started waking up more and feeling comfortable enough to begin performing for the grandparents.
She recently did this same thing with Chappy, and last night with our PAT rep. It's actually very endearing, and Rog loves it.

Baby Hope is still a favorite. Teagan has been carrying her around our house almost non-stop, and she even went on a trip with us to the grocery store. She only got thrown on the floor once. She wakes up and points to her, and insists on eating breakfast with her. I almost had to buckle her in to the highchair with Teagan this morning. Baby Hope gets lots of hugs, kisses and pats on the head.

Oh, the Thrills

So, for the purpose of maintaining a consistent account of Teagan's milestones, as well as share with family and friends, Rog suggested I jump on the bandwagon and start a blog. I've been writing some things down for Teagan's baby book, but I haven't been great about it. I think this will help. Rather than go back and summarize the past 17 months, I'll just start with the latest.
Teagan is walking like a pro. She keeps us very busy and is quite a little thrill seeker. We've been trying to teach her how to back down stairs (we know she is capable of this), but she insists on running full speed and jumping, assuming she will be caught by a frantic witness. I know she needs to just fall and learn a lesson, but how does that happen without the possibility of breaking a bone or knocking some teeth out?
In other news, she is trying to talk a lot more. She has a few words, and seems to be repeating some words when she is in the right mood. She has also discovered the cool sound her mouth can make when she hums and strums her lips and tongue. It's pretty funny.
We've noticed that she has yet to really get emotionally attached to a "lovey". She'll favor something for a few hours and then toss it and forget about it. We've given her a bear to cuddle with since she was an infant, but we've learned that she can take it or leave it.
Today she brought me a doll that she received as a present from her Uncle Randy and Aunt Natasha months ago. I've kept it in the box until I thought she was ready for it. When she brought me the box I asked if she would like me to take the doll out, and she nodded. She's been carrying the doll around with her, hugging and kissing it all day. She'll hold it up and pat her on the head or the back. It's very amusing and sweet to watch. We'll see if she keeps it up.

Yesterday Teagan was in her first (and hopefully last!) car accident. Everyone is fine and it was minor, but of course a little scary.
The three of us went to lunch and were on our way back home when someone in the neighboring lane tried to come into our lane. I must have been in her blind spot. I saw her coming and tried swerving to avoid her, but she still hit me and I jumped a curb and busted a tire. I was afraid Teagan was going to be really upset, but she almost seemed to enjoy the off-roading. Did I mention she seems to be a thrill-seeker? Fortunately Rog was there to change the tire while I held on to Teagan and talked to the police and the other girl involved. It seems there will be no problem with insurance taking care of everything, so hopefully it will be a distant memory soon.
I've attached a picture of Teagan and her doll, whom we've christened "Baby Hope".
