A Case of the Mondays

Not that this is a surprise, but we're sorry our weekend is over. It was a good weekend. We got some work done on the house and we also had some fun with various parties and other gatherings with friends.
Friday was the 4th, one of my personal favorite holidays. I don't really know why, exactly. I think fireworks are overrated, and more often than not it's too hot to even move, but I look forward to it every year. This year was a special treat because the weather was beautiful. We got to spend time with friends and walked up to Kirkwood Park to watch the display. Teagan's still a little young for the fireworks. I think she probably would have enjoyed them, but we didn't want her staying up too late, so after she played for awhile with the other kids, she got to go spend the night at Mimi and Poppi's house.
Saturday Rog and I worked on the house some more. We now have everything mostly painted, and Rog has all of the upper cabinets hung. This week he's working on flooring.
Yesterday morning we took a trip to Grant's Farm with the Judges. Grant's Farm holds a special place in my heart. It used to be a tradition to go there with my family when my grandparents came into town, so I think about them whenever I visit. I'm afraid its days may be numbered with the looming AB takeover.
Teagan was more interested in the animals than she was a year or so ago, but I think she was even more fascinated with being able to run around. Even though we planned the trip for early in the morning before the kids' naps, our plan backfired and they both became tired and a bit cranky earlier than we had hoped. We tried.
Finally, last night we celebrated my friend Nikki's 30th birthday with a big surprise bash. It was fun to see so many people that I haven't seen in years. Teagan was all decked out in a cute dress, but I know she would have much rather been running around in her diaper. It was so hot, I would have preferred that, too. I was sad to wake up and get back to work today, but we do what we have to do!
